Central Bangka Regent urges prospective Hajj pilgrims to prioritise social values during pilgrimage
Koba, Bangka Belitung (ANTARA) - Central Bangka Regent Algafry Rahman has urged prospective Hajj pilgrims (JCH) from the area to maintain good conduct and prioritise social values while performing the Hajj pilgrimage in the 2026 season.
“Although the Hajj is a spiritual worship, the pilgrims must still prioritise care for others,” he said during a visit with 154 prospective pilgrims at the regent’s official residence in Koba, Central Bangka Regency, Bangka Belitung Islands Province, on Thursday.
He stated that during the Hajj, they must maintain solidarity and help one another, especially those in the same kloter.
“If any pilgrim faces difficulties, whether health-related or otherwise, we should be quick to lend a hand,” he said.
He acknowledged it as an honour to gather these guests of Allah before their departure to the Holy Land of Mecca.
“This is a moment for maintaining ties and a form of respect for those called by Allah to the Holy Land to perform the fifth pillar of Islam,” he said.
“Guard your hearts and your tongues during the Hajj, so that the worship can proceed smoothly,” he added.
He noted that the opportunity to perform Hajj is a blessing to be grateful for, as not all Muslims can go to the Holy Land.
“Hajj is a lifelong aspiration for Muslims, but not everyone is given the chance. Therefore, those departing this year must be deeply thankful,” he said.
He revealed that the Hajj waiting list in Bangka Belitung Province currently exceeds 15,000 people, with an estimated wait until 2050.
“Given the long waiting list, those who can depart this year are truly fortunate,” he said.
He asked the JCH to pray for the people of Central Bangka and Indonesia to remain peaceful and prosperous.
“Pray for us and this nation to stay peaceful, and may all pilgrims return as accepted Hajj performers,” he said.
According to data from the Central Bangka Ministry of Religious Affairs, there are 154 JCH members this year, grouped in kloter 8, scheduled to depart for the Holy Land on 1 May 2026 via the Palembang embarkation point in South Sumatra.
