Censor for film posters

The Jakarta Chapter of Film Distribution Agency (Bapfida DKI) is threatening to pull down any unauthorized film posters put up by movie house owners.

Semyon Sinulingga, the head of Bapfida DKI, said yesterday that film posters must be approved by the Film Censorship Body (BSF).

"If film posters placed by movie house owners are not approved by the BSF, we will remove them," Sinulingga was quoted by Antara as saying.

He said Bapfida is planning to launch a "cleaning" operation to rid the city of unauthorized film posters.

"The operation will involve related government agencies such as the police and the City Public Law and Order Office," Seymon said, adding that the operation will be gradual.

"We will warn them first, but if they keep ignoring the regulation, we will give them harsher penalties," Sinulingga explained.

The operation is believed to have been triggered by the public's recent criticism of film posters featuring scantily clad women. (als)
