Cenderawasih has new campus

JAYAPURA, Irian Jaya: Minister of Education and Culture Wardiman Djojonegoro inaugurated the Rp 17-billion campus of Cenderawasih University here on Tuesday.

Built on 176 hectares of land in Waeni, the new campus accommodates the office of the rector, laboratories and the schools of economics and sciences. The construction was financed by the government and with a grant from the Asian Development Bank.

Wardiman in his speech called on the state-owned university to pay more attention to the sciences, agriculture, economics and industry as well as human resources development to help boost the development in the province.

"The university should also conduct in-depth studies on how development can adversely affect the people," he said. (22/rms)
