CD-ROM business directory launched

JAKARTA (JP): PT Sumber Daya Multimedia launched yesterday a new CD-ROM business directory in cooperation with the newspapers Republika and Bisnis Indonesia and the Internet provider Radnet.

Eddy Santoso, the marketing director at Sumber Daya Multimedia, said that one disk contains information on 90,000 companies and their profiles.

The CD-ROM enables users to do cross-index searches based on names, lines of business and phone numbers. "It is far more than the yellow pages," said Eddy.

Currently released in the silver edition, the CD-ROM directory, called the Indonesian Business Directory, also allows users to print mailing labels.

Eddy said the company is planning to release its gold edition in March 1997.

The gold edition will have more features. It will allow users to create a phone book with faxing software, send e-mail and view listed homepages, said Maruto Kolopaking, the company's president.

The directory will be updated every six months, and any company that wants to be included can register free of charge through the homepage of Sumber Daya Multimedia at http://www.rad.net.id/sdm.

The CD-ROM can also be purchased online or at designated dealers, bookstores, supermarkets and drugstores.

Kolopaking said his company expects to sell up to 60,000 in domestic and overseas sales within a year. (Yenni Kwok)
