CCTV Footage Reveals KontraS Deputy Coordinator Was Followed Before Acid Attack; Suspects Waited Outside Cikini KFC
Metropolitan Police Criminal Investigation Directorate is investigating 86 surveillance cameras at the crime scene to probe the acid attack case against Andrie Yunus, Deputy Coordinator of the Commission for Missing Persons and Victims of Violence (KontraS).
“We have collected 86 surveillance camera points related to locations where the alleged perpetrators are believed to have departed from and returned to,” said Metropolitan Police Criminal Investigation Director Kombes Pol Iman Imanuddin during a press conference at the Metro Jaya Police Building on Monday (16 March 2026).
The 86 camera points comprise seven cameras from the ETLE system, 27 from the Communications and Information Agency, eight from the Transportation Agency, and 44 private CCTV cameras belonging to residents.
“From the 86 surveillance camera points we analysed, we obtained 2,610 video images with a total duration of 10,320 minutes. Therefore, we require considerable time to conduct digital analysis of the CCTV recordings,” he stated.
Based on preliminary CCTV analysis, the alleged perpetrators were tracked following the victim’s movements prior to the incident. “The perpetrators’ movements were detected through several surveillance cameras with a route that began from South Jakarta towards an initial gathering point on Jalan Merdeka Timur near Gambir Station,” he explained.
He suspected that four alleged perpetrators on two motorcycles waited for the victim outside KFC Cikini before following him towards Jalan Diponegoro and then to Jalan Salemba 1.
“The incident occurred on Thursday (12 March) at 23:37 Western Indonesian Time on Jalan Salemba 1 at the intersection with Jalan Talang in Central Jakarta, where the crime scene was located. We are grateful to have obtained clear CCTV footage which has been very helpful in our investigation and prosecution process,” Iman said.
