The Metro Jaya Police stated that reports claiming model Ansy Jan De Vries was the victim of a mugging are untrue. The professional model was confirmed not to have been the victim of any mugging.

Earlier, circulating reports claimed that the model, initials AWS, Ansy Jan De Vries, became the victim of a mugging in Kebon Jeruk, West Jakarta. As a result of the incident, the victim said she had to receive medical treatment at Sumber Waras Hospital.

Public Relations Head Kombes Budi Hermanto said they immediately conducted an investigation after the information went viral on social media.

“The Directorate of PPA and PPO together with Satres PPA PPO Jakarta Barat and Kebun Jeruk Police Sector, accompanied by UPT P3A and the psychology unit, including the medical examiner at Polda Metro Jaya, proactively visited Ms AWS (Ansy Jan De Vries) and have conducted interrogations,” said Budi at Polda Metro Jaya, Wednesday night (20/5).

“We emphasise that she is not a victim of a mugging or any other criminal act,” he added.

Budi said the police had also coordinated with Sumber Waras Hospital to confirm the report. The result confirmed that Ansy Jan De Vries had never been treated at that hospital.

“This has also been clarified by the management of Sumber Waras Hospital Jakarta Barat; there is no name of Ms AWS in the last month,” he said.

Budi noted, from the investigators’ in-depth inquiry, the narrative about Ansy Jan De Vries being the victim of a mugging circulating on social media is based on mischief.

“What is the motive? First, because of mischief; second, to glorify several viral mugging incidents. This has been visited and investigated. So we conclude that the person in question is not a victim of any criminal incident,” he said.

Furthermore, Budi urged all parties to be prudent in disseminating information and using social media.

“We call on all people to be prudent with social media, not to spread misleading news that would cause a stir in the digital space and in public,” he concluded.
