Cassation Rejected, Nikita Mirzani Remains Sentenced to 6 Years Imprisonment
Indonesia’s Supreme Court (MA) has rejected the cassation appeal filed by actress Nikita Mirzani in a money laundering case. Nikita remains sentenced to six years imprisonment.
“The decision on cassation: reject the cassation of the accused and reject the cassation of the prosecutor,” stated the official MA website on Saturday, 14 March 2026.
The cassation request, numbered 3144 K/PID.SUS/2026, was decided on Friday, 13 March. The case was heard by presiding judge Soesilo and two associate judges, Achmad Setyo Pudjoharsoyo and Sutarjo.
The High Court previously enhanced the sentence imposed at the District Court level, increasing it from four years to six years imprisonment. In its decision, Nikita was found guilty of money laundering (TPPU).
The decision overturned the South Jakarta District Court ruling, which had previously only convicted Nikita under the Electronic Information and Transactions Law and acquitted her of the money laundering charge.
“The court finds the accused Nikita Mirzani guilty beyond reasonable doubt of participating in unlawfully distributing and or transmitting electronic information with threat of defamation or threat of disclosure of secrets, and participating in the crime of money laundering as stated in the prosecutor’s first and second alternative counts,” said presiding judge Sri Andini at the Jakarta High Court on Tuesday, 9 December.
“Therefore, the court imposes a prison sentence of six years,” she affirmed.
The judges also upheld the previous fine, with threat of alternative imprisonment if the fine is not paid. “A fine of one billion rupiah with the stipulation that if the fine is not paid, it shall be replaced with three months’ imprisonment,” she added.
