Casio Unveils Most Expensive G-Shock at Rp135 Million, Key Features Revealed
Casio has unveiled a new G-Shock model, the Frogman MRG-BF1000EB-1AJR, designed as a driver’s watch to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the premium MR-G series. Priced at 1.21 million yen (approximately Rp135 million), it is among the most expensive G-Shocks ever made by the Japanese firm. The watch will be produced in a limited run of 800 units globally.
The Frogman MRG-BF1000EB-1AJR ZZ features specialised materials and manufacturing processes. Its bezel is crafted from Cobarion, a cobalt-chrome alloy claimed to be four times harder than pure titanium. Unlike standard production, the bezel details are manually cut by Japanese gemstone craftsman Kazuhito Komatsu, then coated with blue arc ion plating (AIP) for a reflective blue effect inspired by ‘brinicle’ underwater ice formations found in polar regions.
The main casing, crown, buttons, and case back are made from Ti64 titanium and coated with titanium carbide (TiC) for scratch resistance. It holds ISO water resistance certification up to 200 metres, with Casio’s Clad Guard structure using fluoro rubber gaskets on the crown and buttons to protect internal modules from shock. The case back features a screw-lock system with blue vapor-deposited sapphire crystal and distinctive Frogman engravings.
Despite its analog appearance, the watch is powered by three independent dual-coil motors for the hands. In diving mode, the hour and minute hands stack to function as a dive timer. Equipped with Casio’s Tough Solar technology, Multi-Band 6 time sync, and Bluetooth connectivity, it allows automatic time setting, dive data logging, and tidal charts for 3,300 global locations via the Casio Watches app.
The quick-release lug mechanism allows easy strap changes, and all units come in a special case co-designed with Japanese luggage maker Proteca. The watch will be available in Japan from June 2026.
