Jakarta - Lisna, the biological mother of NS (12), a boy who allegedly died as a result of violence inflicted by his stepmother in Sukabumi, West Java, has submitted a protection request to the Witness and Victim Protection Agency (LPSK).

The request was submitted directly by Lisna to the LPSK office in East Jakarta on Friday, accompanied by her legal team, the Indonesian Child Protection Commission (KPAI), and Commission XIII of the Indonesian House of Representatives.

“Today they submitted a protection request given Lisna’s current physical and psychological condition, which is indeed experiencing disturbance,” said LPSK Deputy Chairperson Sri Suparyati during a press conference.

Based on initial interviews conducted by the LPSK, Lisna reportedly experienced terror following her public statements regarding her son’s case. Lisna had reported NS’s biological father to the Sukabumi Police with suspicions of child neglect.

“Lisna stated that following this report, it turned out that she experienced many threats, both via WhatsApp, telephone, and also several people who constantly contacted her, which has disturbed her psychological situation,” said Sri.

According to her, the telephone threats contained threats against Lisna. By the perpetrators whose identities remain unconfirmed, Lisna was demanded to remain silent and not interfere in the death case involving her biological son.

Currently, the LPSK is conducting physical and psychological assessments of Lisna. “Besides that, we are also examining the level of threat as well as the psychosocial connection,” explained Sri.

The assessments are being conducted to determine the type of protection that will be provided to the applicant. At the same time, the LPSK will soon meet with police authorities.

“The team will likely visit soon to meet with police for verification regarding the application of several legal articles, as this is important to be understood further,” she said.

Meanwhile, KPAI Deputy Chairperson Jasra Putra stated that his organisation visited the LPSK today to coordinate in order to ensure protection for the biological mother of the victim. This is considered important to clarify the case surrounding NS’s death.

Before going to the LPSK, Putra explained, Lisna’s legal team had previously visited the KPAI on Monday (23 February). After that, the KPAI visited the crime scene and coordinated with local police.

From that examination, the KPAI urged that NS’s biological mother be given protection. On the other hand, the biological father of the victim is also being urged to be investigated on suspicion of involvement in NS’s death.

“We also urge the possibility of another perpetrator, namely the biological father. We asked police to investigate this because this case occurred in 2024 and it was previously settled with the stepmother, and because of that it must be examined further,” he said.

Furthermore, House of Representatives Commission XIII member Rieke Diah Pitaloka stated that Lisna is a victim of domestic violence (KDRT) whilst still in marriage with NS’s biological father.

“I want to state firmly that there is strong indication the perpetrator of domestic violence does not need to threaten, even openly threaten the biological mother of NS,” said Rieke, whilst emphasising the importance of protection for Lisna.

She also urged police not to view NS’s death as a standalone case. In this context, Rieke requested that police investigate not only one perpetrator, namely NS’s stepmother.

Meanwhile, the legal representative of NS’s biological mother, Krisna Murti, expressed his gratitude to those who have assisted in overseeing his client’s case. “This means that the state has been present to protect my client,” he said.
