Carrefour's price slogan
Carrefour's price slogan
From Kompas
"If you get a lower price, we'll reimburse the difference" reads a slogan in a Carrefour shopping center, Jakarta.
It's really great!; a slogan that convinces prospective customers and implies that all prices here are under control and lower than those of others. But the facts show a different story.
On May, 14 we bought a Philips water heater HD 4399 for Rp 332,700, at the Cempaka Mas Carrefour. A few days later, by sheer coincidence, when we were doing some shopping at one of the shopping centers at Kelapa Gading, we suddenly caught sight of a product of the same brand priced at Rp 302,500.
Alerted by the slogan, we tried to test out what it promises. We visited the Carrefour shopping center at Cempaka Mas and handed over the purchase receipt, together with the telephone number of the shopping center at Kelapa Gading.
Ms. Vita, who served us only by phone, gave an instruction through her subordinate to take down our address and phone number. She said that they would see to our query by checking out the information given.
Naturally we were disappointed with the service. It subsequently turned out that they simply tried to find excuses to shirk their responsibility for the slogan conspicuously displayed at the entrance.
We would like to ask the management of Carrefour: "What is the use of making beautiful slogans that will eventually disappoint customers?" How often have similar cases happened? It would be much better if such slogans were dropped. What the customer should do is to check carefully before buying. Many other shopping centers do not display slogans, but they really do offer reduced prices.
