The caretaker of the Tebuireng Islamic Boarding School in Jombang, East Java, KH Abdul Hakim Mahfudz or Gus Kikin, has invited all countries to jointly secure Saudi Arabia ahead of the 2026 Hajj pilgrimage. Gus Kikin stated that the Hajj moment is a sacred and noble time for the Muslim ummah.

This was conveyed by Gus Kikin during a silaturahmi event between the leadership of the MPR RI and Indonesian ulama and religious figures at the official residence of the Saudi Ambassador to Indonesia, Faisal Abdullah Al Amoudi, in Menteng, Central Jakarta, on Wednesday (15/4/2026). Gus Kikin hopes that during the upcoming Hajj season, the pilgrimage will proceed smoothly.

“The Hajj moment is a very sacred, noble, and grand time for the Muslim ummah, conducted in the two holy lands in Saudi Arabia. Therefore, all countries must make Saudi Arabia a safe country with no disruptions whatsoever that could impact the 2026 Hajj pilgrimage,” said Gus Kikin.

Gus Kikin also highlighted the failure of peace negotiations between Iran and the United States (US). He also urged the implementation of a ceasefire.

“In response to the failure of peace negotiations between Iran with America and Israel held in Pakistan a few days ago as a negative development. Secondly, we call for the temporary two-week ceasefire currently occurring between Iran with Israel or the United States to become a permanent ceasefire or an end to the war,” he said.

Gus Kikin stated that war brings harm to all parties. He mentioned that the war in the Middle East causes economic, energy, and humanitarian crises.

“War only brings harm to all parties. The impact of war will disadvantage all sides. This is proven by the energy crisis, economic crisis, civilisation crisis, and especially the humanitarian crisis,” he said.
