Capital Market as a Transparent Financing Alternative
PT Indonesia Stock Exchange (BEI) in Papua states that the capital market can serve as a healthy and transparent financing alternative for local businesses while opening up safe investment opportunities for the community. “The presence of the capital market in the region not only provides financing access for the business world but also encourages the public to become familiar with legal and supervised investment instruments,” said the Head of the BEI Papua Representative Office, Kresna Aditya Payokwa, in Jayapura yesterday. He conveyed that his side welcomes the cooperation initiative aimed at expanding financial inclusion in the Papua region. According to Kresna, the capital market can thus become a healthy and transparent financing alternative for business actors while providing safe investment opportunities for the public. “Through educational programmes and assistance that will be carried out, it is hoped that more Papuan people will understand the capital market mechanisms and be able to utilise them wisely,” he said. He explained that by January 2026, the number of capital market investors in Papua has reached 136,735, making financial literacy the main key so that the public not only becomes investors but also understands the risks and benefits of each chosen investment instrument. “Therefore, we will also collaborate with various stakeholders to expand the reach of education, including to students, university students, and micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs),” he added. To that end, the results of the audience will be immediately followed up with the preparation of the programme implementation schedule and the formation of a technical team so that the collaboration runs effectively. “With these steps, we are optimistic that the level of financial inclusion and literacy in Papua can continue to increase sustainably,” he stated.
