Campus Emergency Management: UAD Holds Refreshment Training for Security Personnel
The Bureau of Facilities and Infrastructure (BSP) of Universitas Ahmad Dahlan (UAD) held a Refreshment Training for security personnel on 15 and 17 June 2026. The activity, which took place in the Smart Class on the 8th floor of the Noeng Muhadjir Building, carried the theme ‘Friendly, Responsive, and Adaptive’ as an effort to improve the service quality and professionalism of security officers within the campus environment. The training presented material on excellent service, protocol, and handling emergency conditions. The activity served as a refresher for the knowledge and skills of security personnel so they can provide excellent service to the entire academic community and visitors to UAD. Head of the UAD Bureau of Facilities and Infrastructure, Prof. Dr. Ir. Zahrul Mufrodi, S.T., M.T., IPM., explained that security is the frontline that first interacts with guests and the public who come to the campus. Therefore, the quality of service provided by security officers greatly influences the institution’s image. ‘Security is the foremost face of UAD. Besides carrying out security functions, they also represent the professionalism, friendliness, responsibility, and orderliness of the campus in providing services to the community,’ he said. The theme ‘Friendly, Responsive, and Adaptive’ was chosen to strengthen the character of security personnel in carrying out their duties. Friendly means showing kindness, politeness, and pleasantness in interactions. Responsive means being able to provide responses quickly, accurately, and according to the situation faced. Adaptive means being able to adjust effectively to various changes and challenges. According to him, the role of security is very important in supporting the quality of campus services. Besides maintaining security, they are also implementers of the 5S culture (Smile, Greet, Salute, Polite, and Courteous) which reflects the values of an Islamic and progressive campus. Security also acts as the frontline in implementing campus crisis management when facing emergency conditions. Through this Refreshment Training, participants are expected to have the same excellent service standards in applying excellent service. In addition, each person is also expected to be able to perform first aid in emergency situations so that risk management and handling of emergency conditions can run well. BSP UAD affirmed that similar training will continue to be held periodically as a sustainable programme. This activity is considered important to ensure every security personnel always receives refreshed knowledge and skills so they are ready to provide the best service and able to face various developing situations in the campus environment. ‘UAD Security is not just a security officer, but also a reflection of the campus. Through this training, it is hoped that all personnel will further improve the quality of friendly, responsive, and adaptive service so as to provide a sense of safety and comfort for the entire academic community and the public,’ he concluded.
