Cambodia Deports 2,671 Foreign Nationals in 10 Days

The Cambodian government repatriated 2,671 foreign nationals to their home countries due to various violations during the period from 20 to 30 April 2026, according to a Khmer Times report on Monday (4/5). The thousands of deported foreigners hailed from Indonesia, Pakistan, Vietnam, South Africa, Cameroon, Ghana, China (including Taiwan), Laos, Myanmar, Nigeria, the United States, India, Burundi, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Sierra Leone, Liberia, Nigeria, South Korea, Kenya, Benin, Russia, Togo, Nepal, Germany, Thailand, and Malaysia. According to the report, 306 nationals from China and 635 from Thailand were involved in online fraud cases. The other foreign nationals were charged with illegal migration, document forgery, residing in Cambodia without passports, kidnapping, using fake visas, online fraud, illegal work, and other criminal violations. A significant number of regional observers assess that Cambodian authorities are striving to build their country’s image by seriously combating online fraud and other transnational crimes.
