JAKARTA, KOMPAS.COM - Coordinating Minister for People’s Welfare Muhaimin Iskandar, also known as Cak Imin, has stressed that the global diplomacy steps undertaken by President Prabowo are aimed at opening access for Indonesian humanitarian aid so that it can enter Gaza more effectively. He made the comments while attending the Festival Jejak Jajanan Nusantara at the South-West Parking area of Gelora Bung Karno (GBK) complex, in Senayan, Jakarta, on Sunday (8 March 2026). Cak Imin explained that the Board of Peace (BOP) mechanism, bilateral and multilateral channels, forms part of the strategy to widen access to the distribution of humanitarian aid. “Yes, if aid to Gaza is being cut off or hampered, we must seek entry points to ensure that aid can be targeted and can come in,” he said. “Because there are indications that the aid we bring in does not reach 30 percent, not up to 30 percent reaching, the rest is hampered. The main point is the objective,” he explained. In addition, the President’s visits to various countries are also part of the effort to open routes for humanitarian aid. “So, the BOP or the steps of global diplomacy undertaken by the President are measures to maximise our role,” clarified Cak Imin. Moreover, Cak Imin stressed that the diplomacy conducted by the President also aims to safeguard Indonesia’s national economic interests. He asserted that the government wants to ensure the domestic industry continues to operate and that international trade relations remain advantageous for Indonesia. “Number one is national interest, so that our industry stays afloat; our exports to America stay in surplus, that is the key objective, so do not quarrel over strategic issues because there are purposes within the diplomacy’s implementation, since not everything can be conveyed by the President,” he said.
