Access to Cadas Pangeran Road in Sumedang Regency, West Java, was completely closed after a landslide occurred on Wednesday afternoon (8/4). As a result, traffic flow has been diverted through the Cisumdawu Toll Road to avoid long queues. The landslide happened at two points, both blocking the main road connecting Bandung and Cirebon. Deputy Chief of Sumedang Police, Kompol Sungkowo, stated that conditions at the site do not allow vehicles to pass because the entire road is covered with landslide material. “There are two landslide points. Both are blocking the road,” Sungkowo said, quoted by detik. Due to this incident, all vehicles, whether two-wheeled or four-wheeled, cannot pass through that route. To anticipate congestion, the police immediately implemented traffic engineering by diverting vehicles to alternative routes. “For the time being, traffic heading towards Cadas Pangeran from Sumedang is diverted to pass through the toll road, and similarly, those passing through Cadas Pangeran from Pamulihan are already directed to the toll road,” he said. Meanwhile, landslide handling efforts are underway, deploying heavy equipment to clear the material blocking the road. This effort involves the Sumedang Regency Government to restore access as soon as possible. “We are optimising for more optimal handling, heavier handling, so that, God willing, in the shortest possible time, we will endeavour and ensure that the Cadas Pangeran route can be passed,” Sungkowo stated.
