BYD Denza Z9 GT to Enter Indonesia This Year with Over 1,000 km Range on Single Charge
Chinese electric vehicle manufacturer BYD is strengthening its expansion in Indonesia through its premium Denza brand. The Denza Z9 GT, a high-performance electric vehicle positioned as the flagship in the Denza lineup, will definitively enter the Indonesian market this year.
BYD Motor Indonesia President Director Eagle Zhao confirmed the model would be launched in Indonesia in 2026, though not in the immediate term. “We are very serious about the opportunity to launch this model in Indonesia. The Z9 GT is the flagship model under Denza,” Zhao stated during BYD’s breaking-of-fast gathering on Tuesday, 10 March 2026. He further specified that the launch would occur during the second half of the year.
The model was previously showcased at the Indonesia International Motor Show 2025, where it attracted visitor attention. The vehicle features a sport sedan design with hatchback characteristics and unique manoeuvrability capabilities allowing it to rotate in tight spaces. The Z9 GT measures approximately 5,180 millimetres in length with a wheelbase of 3,125 millimetres and a turning radius of around 4.62 metres, making the large vehicle agile during manoeuvres.
Regarding performance, this electric vehicle is extreme for its class. It delivers close to 1,000 horsepower with 0–100 kilometre-per-hour acceleration in approximately 3.4 seconds. The latest Denza Z9 GT features a large-capacity battery enabling the vehicle to cover 1,036 kilometres on a single charge, with battery capacity reaching 122,496 kWh through Blade battery technology.
In the Chinese market, the model targets young high-income consumers and is priced around IDR 700 million to IDR 800 million. Denza is positioned as a premium electric vehicle-focused brand above BYD.
Beyond the Z9 GT, BYD is also exploring bringing other models from the Denza lineup to Indonesia, including the Denza B5 plug-in hybrid SUV previously introduced to the public at an automotive event earlier this year. According to Zhao, initial consumer response to the model has been sufficiently positive that the company is still determining the right timing for official market launch. The arrival of models such as the Z9 GT and the potential introduction of the B5 are expected to intensify competition in Indonesia’s emerging premium electric vehicle market.
