Jakarta (ANTARA) — Buya Yahya urged the public to pray a lot during Ramadan, including prayers for the nation’s leaders to be granted strength and ease in carrying out the mandate to lead Indonesia.

“The most important thing is prayer. Because becoming president is not easy, it is hard. We must pray a lot for our leaders, so that they can succeed in carrying out their duties,” Buya Yahya said in a statement received in Jakarta on Friday.

The appeal was delivered by the charismatic cleric Yahya Zainul Ma’arif when he attended an invitation by President Prabowo to break fast with ulama and community leaders at the Istana Negara, Thursday night.

The cleric from Cirebon said becoming a national leader is no light task. Behind many major decisions there is responsibility to bear for the interests of the people and the future of the nation.

Therefore, he hopes the prayers of the people can become a force for goodness in national leadership, so that Indonesia remains on a path that brings peace and welfare to all its people.

“Pray that he will be successful, that he will prosper, the people will be at peace and happy,” he added.

Buya Yahya also delivered a message he described as a love message to Prabowo.

Through that message, Buya emphasised that this Ramadan should be used as an occasion to strengthen the values of goodness and peace.

“A message of love — we want Ramadan to be peaceful and tranquil. Alhamdulillah, everything is fine. Let us make Ramadan a momentum of goodness, a peaceful Ramadan, a Ramadan full of beauty,” he urged.

During the occasion, in addition to delivering prayers and messages related to Ramadan, Buya Yahya also touched on Indonesia’s condition amid the dynamics of global geopolitics that continue to evolve.

He assessed that Indonesia’s condition remains safe and calm. This is reflected in the people who can still carry out various obligations in daily life, both in personal, family, and social spheres.

“Indonesia is comfortable. We can carry out our tasks and obligations in personal, family, and social contexts. If there are other matters related to foreign affairs, of course, someone else knows more about it,” he said.
