Buton Produces 100,000 Tonnes of Asphalt Annually, Production Needs to Reach 5 Million Tonnes to End Imports
Jakarta, IDN Times - Investment Minister and Head of BKPM Bahlil Lahadalia said that Buton Regency in Southeast Sulawesi has begun producing 100,000 tonnes of asphalt per year. To meet domestic demand, production capacity needs to be increased to 5 million tonnes per year.
Bahlil was responding to President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo's statement expressing his wish to halt asphalt imports within two years.
"The asphalt industry in Buton has now reached production of 100,000 tonnes per year. It is still modest, but we will push for expansion," Bahlil said after attending the BNI Investor Daily Summit 2022 at the Jakarta Convention Center (JCC) on Tuesday (11 October 2022).
