Busway project needs reviewing
Busway project needs reviewing
From Bisnis Indonesia
The construction of busway facilities is underway on Jl. Sudirman, South Jakarta, in the fast lane. The question is whether upon the completion of this project, traffic jams along this road will be overcome.
When the busway system is implemented, the buses now operating will pick up and drop passengers in the slow lane, so that a long line of vehicles behind will be halted every time or take the middle lane on their right.
In this way, two of the road's three lanes will be packed, making the entire route congested. Therefore, the jams in both lanes of Jl. Sudirman during peak hours are imaginable.
I would like to suggest that Jakarta Governor Sutiyoso and relevant agencies review this project before all the money is spent on it. If the jams are believed to recur with the busway, the funds should better be used for the repair of school buildings or clogged drains.
