Business meeting in Semarang

SEMARANG (JP): The Canadian Embassy in Jakarta and the Central Java chapter of the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin) will cosponsor a business conference here on Tuesday to increase business cooperation between the two countries.

Sundoro, chairman of Kadin's Central Java chapter, said on Monday the conference was aimed at opening business opportunities for Canadian and Central Java businesspeople through exchange of data and information.

"The conference is hoped to bring in direct investment to Central Java from Canada and increase exports to Canada," he said, adding that at least 15 Canadian businessmen will attend the conference.

The delegates will also visit the business centers in the province such as to Tegal, Pekalongan, Jepara, Semarang, and Surakarta, Sundoro said.

A similar conference had been held in Makassar in South Sulawesi, Bandung in West Java, and Padang in West Sumatra, he added. (har/tnt)
