TEMPO Interactive, Jakarta:The level of trust of businesses in Indonesia is higher than the average rate in Asian countries. The 2010 Edelmen Trust Barometer survey said the level of trust in Indonesia is as high as 64 percent while that in Asia – Pacific is 58 percent, and globally it is 54 percent.

The survey involved 4.875 opinion makers in 22 countries, including 200 respondents from the educated group in Indonesia.

Indopacific Edelman Director Bambang Chriswanto said in a press conference announcing the survey result in Jakarta yesterday, the level of trust in Indonesia is even better than that in Brazil, Russia, India, and China (BRIC). “The level of trust in BRIC is only 59 percent,” he said.

The focus of the research is accountability and transparency. Therefore, “the research results revealed that the educated group in Indonesia has a higher expectation on corporate accountability compared to those in other countries of the Asia Pacific.”
