PT Transportasi Jakarta (Transjakarta) has temporarily suspended operations of bus fleet DMR 715 on the Corridor 9 route between Pinang Ranti and Pluit after the vehicle emitted thick smoke whilst stopped at Pancoran bus shelter.

The incident occurred on Saturday (14/2/2026). Transjakarta issued an apology over the matter.

“PT Transjakarta extends its sincerest apologies for the technical disruption involving bus fleet DMR 715, owned by DAMRI operator on the Corridor 9 route (Pinang Ranti-Pluit) at Pancoran shelter on Saturday (14/2) at 13:33 WIB,” said Transjakarta Head of Public Relations and CSR Department Ayu Wardhani in a statement on Monday (16/2).

Ayu explained that the incident was caused by a radiator leak. She said officers had already addressed the situation.

“The incident involving smoke emanating from the rear engine bonnet due to a radiator leak was swiftly handled by field officers,” she said.

“All passengers were safely evacuated to the shelter area and transferred to the next bus in an orderly manner,” she added.

She stated that the company had temporarily halted operations of the bus. Ayu said the vehicle would undergo a comprehensive inspection.

“Transjakarta has decided to ground the bus fleet temporarily. This measure was taken to conduct a comprehensive check and ensure every unit meets strict roadworthiness standards before being permitted to resume passenger service,” she explained.

Furthermore, the company is conducting an in-depth internal investigation and inspecting 59 articulated CNG-powered Zhongtong brand buses, particularly their cooling systems.

“We are committed to zero tolerance for any neglect of technical standards in order to guarantee passenger safety and comfort as our foremost priority,” she said.

“All affected fleet units will undergo a technical audit process before returning to service,” she added.
