Bumame Expands Family Healthcare Services

Healthcare services in Indonesia are increasingly shifting towards a preventive care approach with improved access for communities. Recognising this change, Bumame is expanding its services to support family healthcare needs, particularly in maternity care and child health, through collaboration with child vaccination provider Imuni and partnership with Prof. Dr. dr. Nusratuddin Abdullah, Sp.OG, Subsp. F.E.R(K), MARS, from Nusraya Fertility Center (Nusraya IVF) for the development of a pathology laboratory located at Astra Medic Clinic (AMC) in Makassar.

This initiative is part of Bumame’s effort to provide more integrated healthcare services spanning from pre-pregnancy through child health, aligning with increased public awareness of the importance of disease prevention from an early age.

Since February 2026, Bumame has provided pathology laboratory services at Astra Medic Clinic in Makassar, one of Indonesia’s leading pre-pregnancy and IVF clinics in eastern Indonesia. The laboratory serves as a complement to comprehensive diagnostic examination results for doctors and patients, as precision in pre-pregnancy diagnostics is key to successful pregnancy programmes. Through this strategic partnership, Astra Medic Clinic and Bumame aim to expand healthcare access not only for Makassar residents but also for other cities in eastern Indonesia.

Bumame CEO James Andrew Wihardja stated that this collaborative approach is an important strategy for expanding access to quality healthcare services for communities.

“We recognise that family healthcare needs are expanding. From health screening during pregnancy programmes, child vaccinations, to regular health monitoring. Therefore, Bumame is building partnerships with various providers who have specific expertise in their fields, so that available services are more comprehensive and easily accessible to the public,” James said in a press statement received on Friday (13 March).

According to him, this approach also reflects a shift in public perception towards health, now increasingly focused on prevention and early detection rather than treatment after illness. Meanwhile, Dr. Dirga Sakti Rambe, M.Sc, Sp.PD, FINASIM, FRSPH, FRCP, a vaccinologist and internist, and Chief Medical Advisor for Imuni, explained that child vaccination remains one of the most important health interventions for preventing various potentially fatal diseases.

“Child vaccination is crucial because many serious diseases can actually be prevented through complete vaccination from an early age. In some cases, adult vaccination is more of a booster, assuming that complete basic vaccination was already done during childhood,” explained Dr. Dirga.

He added that in recent years, there has been a shift in parental thinking, particularly among millennial generation parents, who are becoming more proactive in maintaining child health.

However, challenges remain. The busy schedules of parents in urban areas often delay child vaccination, despite increasing awareness of its importance. Therefore, Bumame and Imuni now provide child vaccination services through a walk-in clinic system at Bumame BSD since 9 February, followed by Bumame TB Simatupang and Bumame Cideng starting 24 March 2026.

Through this collaboration, Bumame hopes to provide easier, faster, and more integrated healthcare access, enabling families, particularly young households, to take preventive health measures more conveniently. Moving forward, Bumame sees partnerships with various healthcare providers as an important approach to expanding service reach while delivering a more comprehensive, trustworthy, and comfortable health experience for Indonesian communities.
