Bulog resumes distribution of food assistance in Banyumas Regency
Purwokerto (ANTARA) - Perum Bulog’s Banyumas branch office has resumed the distribution of food assistance for the February-March 2026 allocation in Banyumas Regency, Central Java, as part of efforts to maintain community food security. “Today we are distributing food assistance to the community at the Kedungwuluh Ward Office, Purwokerto Barat Subdistrict,” said the Head of Perum Bulog’s Banyumas Branch Office, Prawoko Setyo Aji, in Purwokerto, Banyumas Regency, on Thursday. He stated that the distribution of this food assistance is part of the government’s efforts to maintain food security while helping the community meet their basic needs. Therefore, he said, the food assistance distribution is expected to ease the burden on the community, particularly in fulfilling needs for rice and cooking oil as main food items. In this regard, he continued, the food assistance targets residents who have been registered as beneficiaries in accordance with applicable regulations. “The number of food assistance recipients (PBP) in Purwokerto Barat Subdistrict is 4,428 PBP, with the rice distribution quantum reaching 88,560 kilograms and cooking oil amounting to 17,712 litres,” he said. Previously, he said, Bulog Banyumas had also distributed food assistance for the February-March allocation in Somagede Subdistrict, Banyumas Regency, on 13 March 2026, to 7,059 PBP with a quantum of 141,180 kilograms of rice and 28,236 litres of cooking oil. Overall, he continued, the total number of food assistance recipients in 2026 in Banyumas Regency reaches 286,920 PBP, an increase of 72,278 PBP compared to 2025, which recorded 214,642 PBP. “The distribution of this food assistance is carried out in stages because it awaits the readiness of cooking oil from the producers,” he said. His side will continue to coordinate with local government and related agencies to ensure that the food assistance distribution process runs smoothly and on target. “We hope this food assistance can help the community in meeting basic needs as well as maintaining the stability of rice supply and prices in the community,” Prawoko emphasised.
