Bulog Ready to Distribute 30kg Rice Aid, Awaiting Distribution Order
Rice for the food assistance programme has been prepared and packaged, enabling it to be distributed as soon as possible.
Jakarta (ANTARA) – State logistics company Perum Bulog is ready to distribute a total of 30 kilograms (kg) of rice as food assistance for October to December 2026, and is now awaiting the distribution order.
Bulog President Director Ahmad Rizal Ramdhani said the rice for the programme had been prepared and packaged, so it could be distributed promptly.
“I’d like to do it as soon as possible. We have already packaged it and put the rice into sacks, and it is ready to be distributed. The total is 996,000 tonnes,” Rizal told reporters in Jakarta on Thursday.
The government has previously decided to continue providing food assistance of 10kg of rice per month from October to December 2026.
The three months’ assistance will be distributed in a single delivery, meaning each beneficiary family (KPM) will receive a total of 30kg of rice. The assistance is intended for 33,244,408 KPMs in deciles 1 to 4.
The government has allocated around Rp17.5 trillion for the food assistance as part of its fourth-quarter 2026 economic stimulus package.
Rizal explained that distribution would begin after the letter recording the decision from a limited coordination meeting (rakortas) had been processed through the State Secretariat and the Ministry of Finance for budgeting, and then sent to the National Food Agency (Bapanas), which would issue Bulog with the order.
“A rakortas is a decision-making meeting, so at this stage there is only the meeting’s decision. After that decision, the letter goes to the State Secretariat. From there, it is processed by the Ministry of Finance for budgeting,” Rizal said.
“Once the Ministry of Finance has released the budget, the letter goes to Bapanas. Bapanas then gives me the order. But in principle, as soon as the order is issued, I will carry out the task,” he added.
As for availability, Rizal assured the public that Bulog’s rice stocks remained sufficient.
Bulog currently holds around 4.5 million tonnes of rice, while less than 1 million tonnes will be needed to provide assistance to 33.2 million beneficiaries over three months.
“So even after we deliver the rice for those three months, we will still have more than 3 million tonnes in stock,” he said.
