Bulog Organises Rice Warehouse Tour, Students Directly View 5.2 Million Tonne Stock
JAKARTA - Bulog’s Director Ahmad Rizal Ramdhani invited students from various regions to inspect a rice warehouse on Wednesday (6/5/2026). Rizal took the students to see the conditions directly at Bulog’s warehouse in Kelapa Gading, North Jakarta, which is filled with rice. Previously, the students had attended a discussion on agricultural and food governance at the residence of Agriculture Minister Andi Amran Sulaiman in Kalibata, South Jakarta. Rizal stated that the activity aimed to demonstrate the condition of the Government Rice Reserve, which now stands at 5.2 million tonnes. “Even the friends were told by the Minister of Agriculture earlier, they can also check the warehouses in their villages,” said Rizal in North Jakarta. Bulog’s warehouses have now become destinations for school visits. “We allow high school students, let alone university students if they want to see,” he said. Access is opened so that the public can participate in monitoring food stock conditions. Bulog still requires registration for visitors. Rizal said that Bulog will prepare a tour programme for students undertaking field work studies. “We will create a study tour programme for younger students on field work at Bulog’s warehouses and facilities,” he stated. He emphasised that openness is the main principle in warehouse management. “This is the era of openness now. So, no more hiding things and so on,” he said. They observed the process of packaging premium rice and Rice for Supply and Price Stabilisation, as well as stacks of rice sacks in the warehouse. Rizal explained that the capacity of the warehouse in Kelapa Gading is already 98 per cent full. “Here it’s already 98 per cent. Yes, 98 per cent. That’s why we are now renting warehouses in Tangerang, including those in Banten,” he said.
