Tanjungpinang (ANTARA) - Bulog’s Tanjungpinang branch in the Riau Islands (Kepri) has guaranteed the availability of government rice reserves (CBP) for the communities of Indonesia’s outermost islands, such as Anambas and Lingga, for the next three months.

The Head of the Tanjungpinang Bulog Branch, Arief Alhadihaq, stated that as of 23 April 2026, the rice stock in the Siantan warehouse, Anambas Regency, amounted to 376 tons, while in the Sungai Besar warehouse, Lingga Regency, it was 310 tons.

“Rice consumption is estimated at around 100 tons per month, so the CBP stock in these two islands remains safe and sufficient for the next three months,” said Arief when contacted in Tanjungpinang on Saturday.

Meanwhile, the CBP stock in the Bulog Melayu Kota Piring warehouse, which stores rice for the needs of Tanjungpinang City and Bintan Regency, is still available at around 2,400 tons, with food security lasting for the next four months.

Therefore, Arief urged the public not to worry about food supplies, especially since Bulog’s national rice stock is abundant at five million tons.

“Bulog is even renting private warehouses to store CBP stocks because our own warehouses are limited and cannot accommodate everything,” said Arief.

Arief mentioned that since the beginning of 2026, demand for Bulog’s medium rice has increased dramatically compared to 2025, rising from the usual 10 tons per week to 60 tons per week.

According to him, the high enthusiasm of residents to buy the supply and price stabilisation rice (SPHP) is influenced by fluctuating rice prices in the market.

“Bulog rice has become an alternative choice for the public because it is more affordable and of good quality,” said Arief.

He also confirmed that Bulog rice prices remain stable at Rp65,500 per five kilograms. The public can access this SPHP rice at Bulog partners, ranging from our food homes (RPK), markets, modern retail shops, to small traders.
