Bulog Director: Synergy with Police Expands Food Distribution through Cheap Food Movement
Jakarta — Bulog Director General Ahmad Rizal Ramdhani stated that the company is collaborating with the National Police (Polri) to implement the Cheap Food Movement (Gerakan Pangan Murah) to expand food distribution coverage whilst maintaining price stability ahead of Eid al-Fitr 1447 Hijriah.
“The synergy between Bulog and Polri through the Cheap Food Movement is a joint effort to expand food distribution coverage whilst maintaining price stability in society,” Rizal said in a statement in Jakarta on Saturday.
Bulog and Polri implemented the Cheap Food Movement jointly at Bulog’s Regional Office for Jakarta and Banten, located in Kelapa Gading, North Jakarta.
The movement is being carried out simultaneously across Indonesia, involving 36 regional police commands (Polda) and 510 police precincts (Polres), enabling benefits to be felt by the public more widely. The activity is estimated to reach approximately 295,000 beneficiaries from various segments of society.
“Bulog is committed to continuing to ensure the availability and affordability of food for the public, particularly ahead of Eid al-Fitr,” Rizal said.
Meanwhile, Deputy National Police Chief General Dedi Prasetyo affirmed that the police fully support efforts to stabilise food supplies through the Cheap Food Movement in various regions.
“The Cheap Food Movement is a form of Polri’s commitment to supporting national food stability whilst providing convenience for the public to obtain staple foodstuffs at more affordable prices,” the Deputy Chief said.
As part of the series of activities, he conducted an interactive dialogue online with regional police commands to monitor implementation of the Cheap Food Movement in various areas.
Subsequently, the Deputy Chief and his delegation conducted a direct inspection of the Cheap Food Movement distribution tents to observe the distribution of foodstuffs to the public.
The Cheap Food Movement targeted beneficiaries from labourers, motorcycle taxi drivers, and other members of the general public.
The food commodities provided included SPHP rice at IDR 11,000 per kilogramme (maximum purchase of two 5 kg packs per person), sugar at IDR 17,000 per kilogramme, cooking oil at IDR 15,000 per litre, and wheat flour at IDR 11,500 per kilogramme.
Through this activity, Bulog and Polri hoped to assist the public in meeting their staple food requirements at more affordable prices whilst strengthening national food stability ahead of Eid al-Fitr.
