Jakarta (ANTARA) - Perum Bulog’s President Director, Ahmad Rizal Ramdhani, directly distributed rice and cooking oil food assistance to beneficiary families in the Thousand Islands region of Jakarta Province as a government stimulus to ease the burden on the public’s economy.

Rizal stated that the distribution of aid as far as Untung Jawa Island in the Thousand Islands represents a tangible manifestation of the state’s presence in guaranteeing access to food for the community without exception.

“We ensure that every member of the public, including those in island areas, receives their right to food. No region is too remote to reach. Bulog is present to ensure that assistance is delivered on time and to the right targets,” Rizal said in the Thousand Islands on Thursday.

Perum Bulog continues to accelerate the distribution of food assistance in the form of rice and cooking oil as part of the government programme.

Following the Eid al-Fitr 1447 Hijriah holiday, Rizal said his team immediately resumed massive distribution of aid, including to areas with geographical challenges like the Thousand Islands.

This acceleration is carried out to ensure that food assistance can be promptly received by beneficiary communities, even if it requires navigating difficult distribution routes.

The state-owned food enterprise is committed to maintaining smooth distribution to the outermost regions.

Overall, the food assistance programme is distributed to 33.2 million Food Assistance Recipients (PBP).

In the Thousand Islands region, it covers 4,102 PBPs spread across various islands, including Untung Jawa Island, Pramuka Island, Kelapa Island, and Harapan Island.

“Specifically on Untung Jawa Island, assistance is distributed to 402 PBPs,” Rizal stated.

Each PBP will receive 20 kilograms of rice and 4 litres of cooking oil for the February and March 2026 allocation.

The food assistance programme is part of the economic stimulus in the first quarter of this year, expected to maintain public purchasing power.

Based on data from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS), household consumption remains the main engine of national economic growth.

With the ongoing acceleration of distribution, including to island areas, Bulog is optimistic that the food assistance programme can be evenly distributed and provide real benefits to the community.

Sabrina Marsenda, a resident of Untung Jawa Island, expressed deep gratitude for receiving aid from the government, noting it was her first time benefiting from the programme.

“We are certainly thankful; today we received 20 kilograms of rice and 4 litres of cooking oil,” Sabrina said.

She hopes similar assistance can continue to help meet household needs and that the quota can be increased so more residents can benefit.

“Thank you to President Prabowo Subianto for the Bulog rice assistance; it has already reached Untung Jawa Island,” Sabrina added.

In agreement, Nahria, a resident of RW 02 on Untung Jawa Island, also expressed joy at receiving the rice food assistance again to ease her household needs.

“I’m very happy because it’s very beneficial for me and my family. I am deeply thankful; if possible, it could be increased further for our residents on Untung Jawa Island in particular,” Nahria said.

On that occasion, Nahria also extended thanks to President Prabowo Subianto for continuing the food assistance, especially rice and cooking oil.

Meanwhile, Muslim, the Head of RT on Untung Jawa Island, expressed thanks to the central government for once again distributing food assistance to eligible residents in his area.

“We thank President Prabowo Subianto for bringing assistance to our residents (in need) through the Bulog President Director; this is a blessing, this is extraordinary,” Muslim said.
