Bully for Banyumas regent

BANYUMAS, Central Java: Regent Djoko Sudantoko knows how to win the hearts of local Indonesian Democratic Party (PDI) supporters.

Djoko appeared at the party's rally at a soccer field here on Thursday. He was seen shaking hands with lots of supporters who gathered around him wherever he moved.

But many supporters of the "bull party", as PDI is proudly called, failed to hide their motive behind their unusually friendly approach to the regent.

They demanded that the regent buy them drinks because, they argued, he had treated the campaigning Golkar supporters the day before.

He could not refuse. "OK, OK, you guys are all my children. Just have drinks and I will pay for them," he said.

In a matter of seconds, the thirsty youths run for food stalls on fieldside and yelled, "Hurrah, hurrah, the regent is a bull, too." (wah)
