The Buleleng Police Resort is preparing its sector police posts (Polsek) as stopover points for homebound travellers passing through Buleleng Regency during the 2026 Lebaran mudik exodus.

Buleleng Police Resort Chief AKBP Ruzi Gusman stated that this initiative is part of a service innovation for the community whilst providing comfort for mudik travellers undertaking long journeys.

“Several of our police posts we are preparing as stopover points for mudik travellers. So they can rest, using them as rest areas, perform prayer, bathe, and meet other needs,” said Ruzi on Friday (13 March 2026).

He explained that the programme was inspired by the concept of pilgrim-friendly places of worship previously presented by the Ministry of Religious Affairs. The Buleleng Police Resort subsequently initiated a similar concept through the mudik-friendly police post programme.

According to Ruzi, during a coordination meeting held previously, it was agreed that all police posts within the Buleleng Police Resort jurisdiction would be utilised as temporary stopover locations for mudik travellers.

“This is a service innovation for the community. We will soon conduct broader socialisation so that mudik travellers know that police post offices can be utilised as rest areas,” he said.

In addition to preparing stopover points, the Buleleng Police Resort is also planning a free mudik programme for the community. Currently, it is awaiting further guidance and coordination from central headquarters regarding the implementation mechanism.

“We are also planning a free mudik programme in the coming days, adjusting it according to estimates of increased mudik flow. For implementation, we will announce later whether it will be conducted centrally or not,” he explained.

He added that the Buleleng Police Resort has actually prepared vehicles to support this programme. However, confirmation of implementation still awaits a decision from national police headquarters.

“If given authority or flexibility to conduct it, God willing, this year we will also hold the free mudik programme. The fleet is prepared; we are simply awaiting further coordination with headquarters,” he concluded.
