Singaraja, Bali (ANTARA) - The Buleleng District Education Council has stated its full support for the implementation of Government Regulation (PP) Number 17 of 2025 on the Governance of Electronic Systems in Child Protection (PP Tunas). “We view this regulation as a strategic step in responding to the increasingly complex challenges of the digital era, particularly in protecting children from various potential risks in cyberspace,” said the Chairman of the Buleleng Education Council, I Made Sedana, in Singaraja, Bali, on Saturday. He emphasised that PP Tunas serves as a highly relevant legal umbrella for the current situation to secure the future of children, especially the nation’s succeeding generations in the northern part of the Island of the Gods. His side assesses that advancements in information technology not only bring benefits but also potential threats to child development if not managed wisely. According to him, the implementation of PP Tunas cannot proceed partially but requires strong synergy from the three main pillars of education: family, school, and community. These three elements are known as the trisentra education concept, which play complementary roles in shaping character and child protection. Parents are expected to provide digital literacy from an early age, while building open communication so that children can use digital devices safely and responsibly. Meanwhile, schools as formal educational institutions have the responsibility to integrate digital literacy education into the curriculum. Teachers not only act as educators but also as guides who can direct students in understanding internet ethics and recognising potential dangers in the digital world. Furthermore, the Buleleng Education Council also highlights the importance of school policies that support the implementation of PP Tunas. This includes monitoring the use of electronic devices in the school environment, as well as providing digital security systems that protect student data and activities. Sedana also called on all elements of society not to be negligent towards child protection issues in the digital world. That responsibility is not solely the government’s but a collective responsibility that must be borne together. The Buleleng Education Council is committed to continuing to conduct socialisation and education regarding PP Tunas to all education stakeholders. This effort is expected to enhance public awareness and capacity in protecting children in the digital era.
