Bukalapak's Strategy to Empower MSME Operators through KOLAK Programme
Jakarta, VIVA – Bukalapak continues to run its Kompak Bareng Mitra Bukalapak (KOLAK) programme, serving as a platform to drive the public economy, particularly for micro, small and medium enterprise (MSME) operators. One of its success stories is demonstrated by Putri Wulandari, a Mitra Bukalapak shop owner from West Bandung.
Starting from a simple desire to be able to care for her child without losing her income, Putri has now proven that even a small shop can become a pillar for a family’s future.
Putri’s journey began in 2018. After deciding to leave her job for the sake of her child, she mustered the courage to open a grocery shop with very limited capital of just Rp 300,000.
“At the time, my child didn’t want to be left when I went to work. So I chose to resign so I could focus on looking after my child. With whatever capital I had, I stocked the shop with coffee, rice and instant noodles to serve the neighbours,” said Putri in a Bukalapak press statement on Friday, 20 February 2026.
Recognising that her business needed acceleration, Putri took the strategic step of joining as a Mitra Bukalapak shop owner. Although she initially faced obstacles with minimal balance capital and limited technological knowledge, her persistence in making use of the learning resources on Mitra Bukalapak bore fruit. She learnt how to conduct secure digital transactions and implement effective promotional strategies.
As a result, from profits that were initially only enough for daily meals, Putri is now able to earn between Rp 3 million and Rp 5 million per month. This income has been transformed into school fees for her two children, support for her parents, and the purchase of a motor vehicle.
Putri’s success has not only been felt by her own family. Her positive spirit and active involvement as a shop owner led to her being selected as one of the driving figures in the KOLAK programme in 2025.
Through the full support of Mitra Bukalapak, Putri channelled her gratitude by distributing free takjil (Ramadan refreshments) to customers and local residents.
“For me, that moment was not merely about sharing food, but rather an expression of gratitude and an effort to strengthen togetherness during the holy month,” she said.
The trail of goodwill blazed by Putri has now become an inspiration for the continuation of the programme. In 2026, the KOLAK programme returns at an even larger scale.
