BTN's KPR lending rates still high

BTN's KPR lending rates still high

From Kompas

The declining interest rate on Bank Indonesia's promissory
notes (SBI) have not been followed by the banking sector. The
lending rates on general loans and house mortgage loans (KPR)
remain high, while the interest on deposits has decreased
considerably.

In this case, I would like to appeal for the attention of the
minister of finance and the minister of resettlement and regional
infrastructure, particularly regarding the high KPR lending rates
for the lower to middle-income groups.

State savings bank BTN has fixed its lending rates on various
types of modest housing units, ranging from 18 percent to 20
percent a year. A private bank has been able to lower its lending
rate from 20 percent to 17 percent, while BTN cannot do so.

Members of commissions IV and IX of the House of
Representatives should study Malaysia, which has been able to
provide subsidies for people to buy houses.
