Jakarta – PT Bank Syariah Indonesia Tbk (BSI) recorded a significant surge in zakat, infaq, sedekah, and waqf (ziswaf) transactions during Ramadhan 2026.

Within three weeks of fasting, total ziswaf funds collected through various BSI channels reached Rp 30 billion, nearly doubling compared to January’s figure of approximately Rp 16 billion. Transactions were conducted through the BYOND super-app, ATM networks, branch services, and inter-bank transfers.

Anton Sukarna, Director of Sales and Distribution at BSI, stated that public preference for Islamic financial services continues to increase.

“Ramadhan is a moment for Muslims to share more generously, and BSI is here to facilitate this spirit through various sharing features in BYOND,” Anton said in a statement on Sunday (15 March 2026).

The development of the BYOND super-app represents BSI’s commitment to accelerating digital transformation whilst delivering social benefit through integrated zakat, infaq, donation, and waqf features connected with trusted zakat management agencies and social institutions.

Anton noted that BSI facilitates and simplifies social transactions for customers. The company has introduced various “Sharing” features within BYOND.

These include sub-transactions for zakat, infaq, waqf, and donations. Customers can select programmes aligned with their preferences to fulfil zakat obligations, make infaq contributions, establish waqf, and donate with various options tailored to individual needs.

“This reflects BSI’s role in facilitating customers’ desire to share whilst strengthening our position as a social companion for society,” he explained.

In line with digital transformation, BYOND users have reached 5.9 million, representing 197 per cent year-on-year growth dominated by Gen Z and millennials. This high adoption rate has driven BSI digital activity to over 500 million transactions annually.

“Ramadhan is an important moment for Islamic banks to engage more closely with society. Through BYOND, we aim to offer service alternatives that not only simplify financial transactions but also strengthen the social and spiritual activities of communities,” he added.

Going forward, BSI will continue introducing BYOND innovations to reach broader population segments whilst strengthening its customer base, which currently stands at 23 million customers.
