BSI Launches Umrah Savings Product, Targets 2 Million Customers
Jakarta, VIVA – PT Bank Syariah Indonesia (Persero) Tbk (BSI) has launched BSI Tabungan Umrah, a savings product designed to make it easier for customers to plan and undertake their umrah pilgrimage to the Holy Land. Approximately 2 million active BSI customers are potential participants in the savings scheme.
BSI Director of Sales and Distribution Anton Sukarna stated that the new product serves as an end-to-end solution for customers performing the pilgrimage — from saving, purchasing umrah travel packages, through to making payment transactions while in Saudi Arabia.
“God willing, the ecosystem will be integrated end-to-end — from saving at BSI, purchasing travel packages through BSI, transacting using a BSI card, and during umrah it remains continuously integrated with the BSI ecosystem, as this savings account can also be used as a daily account,” he said in Jakarta on Tuesday, 24 February 2026.
He explained that one of the benefits for umrah savings customers is the Mabrur Visa Debit Card facility. The debit card provides free cash withdrawals at ATMs in Saudi Arabia, competitive exchange rates, transaction cashback, and a donation programme linked to purchases at food merchants.
The savings product is also integrated with BSI’s Bewize application, which enables partner travel agencies to manage referral customers, including monitoring savings balances with the customer’s consent.
Anton said BSI Tabungan Umrah is expected to strengthen both the business-to-customer (B2C) and business-to-business (B2B) ecosystems, given that the product targets not only individual customers but is also aimed at bolstering the broader hajj and umrah business ecosystem. The product operates under a wadiah (custodial) contract for individuals and is available in two currency options — rupiah (IDR) and US dollars (USD) — with no administration fees.
For rupiah accounts, the minimum initial deposit is set at Rp100,000, with subsequent minimum deposits of Rp10,000. Customers are required to maintain a minimum balance of Rp50,000, whilst the account closure fee is Rp20,000. For US dollar accounts, the minimum initial deposit is US$10, with subsequent minimum deposits of US$5. The minimum account balance is US$10, and the account closure fee is US$5.
