Jakarta — PT Bank Syariah Indonesia Tbk (BSI) is facilitating 385 persons with disabilities to participate in a free homecoming programme to several cities in Java and Sumatera ahead of Idul Fitri 1447 Hijriah, which is estimated to fall on Saturday, 21 March.

BSI Chief Executive Officer Anggoro Eko Cahyo stated in Jakarta on Tuesday that the bank is providing comprehensive facilities for persons with disabilities to ensure their comfort during the journey.

He explained that programme participants will travel by bus and train equipped with special seating for persons with disabilities. Travellers will also receive meal packages, travel supplies, and health services.

“This is intended to show our appreciation to all customers and the extended BSI family so they can travel home safely, comfortably, and free of charge,” said Anggoro.

Besides persons with disabilities, he noted that this year’s free homecoming programme also includes partner small and medium-sized enterprise operators, junior staff, and outsourced workers of BSI.

He stated that the bank’s free homecoming programme has consistently received strong support and enthusiasm from the public. The level of interest has prompted the bank to increase participant quota this year to more than double compared to last year’s 1,100 people.

“Today we are dispatching 44 buses carrying 2,261 homecoming travellers, more than double compared to last year,” said Anggoro Eko Cahyo.

He noted that destination areas for this year’s BSI free homecoming programme include Sumatera, Cirebon, Majalengka, Purwokerto, Yogyakarta, Magelang, Nganjuk, Madiun, Blitar, and Surabaya.

The programme represents the bank’s corporate social mission as a “financial, social and spiritual partner” to customers and supports government efforts to maintain orderly homecoming traffic this year.

“Through this ‘Comfortable Homecoming, Shared Hope’ programme, we hope that homecoming travellers can travel safely and share hope with their families in their hometowns. And of course, our hope is that they will also be able to return to Jakarta safely and comfortably,” added Anggoro.
