BSI Agent Transactions Grow 14.54%, Becoming the Engine of Sharia Financial Inclusion
PT Bank Syariah Indonesia (Persero) Tbk (BSI) recorded a 14.54% year-on-year growth in transaction volume through BSI Agents, amounting to 8.6 million transactions up to March 2026. The number of BSI Agents also rose by 11.31% year-on-year, reaching more than 128,000 agents spread across various regions in Indonesia.
“This increase reflects the high level of public trust in BSI Agent services while strengthening BSI’s position in driving the transformation of community-based banking services,” said BSI’s Director of Sales & Distribution, Anton Sukarna, in a written statement in Jakarta on Friday (24/4/2026).
In addition to its impact on the bank’s performance, the company stated that the BSI Agent programme also opens up economic opportunities for the agents.
The bank recorded that the average income of BSI Agents reaches Rp6 million to Rp8 million per month, depending on the number of transactions conducted.
“This makes BSI Agents not only a channel for financial services but also a means of community economic empowerment,” Anton added.
BSI Agents provide banking services to the public, including cash withdrawals, transfers, cash deposits, bill payments, and hajj fee settlements.
Anton added that BSI Agents also help increase sharia financial literacy and inclusion to the remotest villages through the agent-based service scheme.
The company stated that the presence of BSI Agents serves as a complement to inclusive and efficient financial service solutions, especially for communities far from bank branches.
Currently, the company has 1,130 branches throughout Indonesia, serves 6,000 ATMs/CRMs, has partnerships with 16,000 BSI Agent EDC machines, 21,000 merchant EDCs, and 563,000 QRIS merchants.
“BSI will continue to expand the BSI Agent network as part of the strategy to strengthen the national sharia financial ecosystem and ensure that sharia banking services can be accessed equitably by all segments of society up to the remotest villages,” said Anton.
