Brutal Robbery in Central Lombok: Victim Struck with Machete whilst Praying
Kirah, a resident of Ramggagata Village, Praya Barat Daya District, Central Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB), became the victim of a robbery by six unknown assailants on Monday, 2 March 2026. As a result of the incident, the victim sustained serious wounds to her head after being struck with a machete.
Muhamad Haikal, Head of Ramggagata Village, Praya Barat Daya District, confirmed the incident. He stated that the incident occurred at approximately 22:10 Wita, whilst the victim was praying in her home.
“Yes, the incident occurred at 22:10 Wita,” said Haikal via WhatsApp on Tuesday, 3 February 2026.
Haikal explained that at around 22:00 Wita, Kirah was on a video call with her husband, who was in Malaysia. Shortly thereafter, they ended their conversation. The victim then hurried to the bathroom to perform ablutions before evening prayers.
“During the final prayer unit, suddenly approximately six perpetrators entered. The house happened to be unlocked, and they forced the victim to reveal the location of valuable items,” he said.
Haikal stated that the victim’s resistance did not last long. The perpetrators struck the victim’s head with a machete. Additionally, Kirah was concerned about the safety of her daughter and therefore disclosed the location where she kept her jewellery.
“The victim resisted slightly, so the robbers struck her head with a machete, forcing her to tell them where she kept her jewellery. The victim was also afraid her daughter would be harmed—she was with her daughter, who is only 13 or 14 years old,” he added.
Haikal revealed that the victim was alone with her daughter at the time. Her son was not at home.
“She also lives with her son, but he happened to be playing at a friend’s house,” he stated.
According to him, the perpetrators successfully took a gold necklace belonging to the victim that was stored in a particular location. He noted that the victim was powerless to resist because she feared suffering more severe violence.
“After taking a gold necklace, the robbers left,” he said.
Haikal stated that after the incident, he and members of Praya Barat Daya Police Station immediately went to the crime scene to conduct an investigation. He noted that the victim underwent a medical examination and filed a report at Praya Barat Daya Police Station.
“We immediately went to the scene and conducted a crime scene investigation together, and a medical examination was conducted. The report has been filed at Praya Barat Daya Police Station,” he concluded.
