Bro Ron Assaulted, PSI: Barbaric, Threat to Citizens' Freedom
JAKARTA - The Director of Law and Human Rights of the PSI Central Executive Board, Kamaruddin, has strongly condemned the assault and physical violence suffered by PSI Deputy General Chairman Ronald Sinaga, alias Bro Ron.
Kamaruddin emphasised that the beating of Bro Ron constitutes an attack on humanity.
“Violence against citizens cannot be tolerated in a state of law. The incident that befell Bro Ron is a real threat to the freedom and security of citizens. Never compromise with violence,” Kamaruddin stated in his remarks on Tuesday (5/5/2026).
According to him, all those involved in the barbaric beating must be dealt with firmly without exception.
“All those involved in the barbaric beating must be dealt with firmly. We will continue to monitor this case and ensure that the law works as it should and provides a deterrent effect for the perpetrators,” Kamaruddin said.
He also stressed that there should be no place for thuggery in this country because violence only shows a weakness of reason and an inability to engage in equal dialogue.
The beating of Ronald went viral on Tuesday (5/5/2026), after it was uploaded by Deputy Chairman of Commission III of the Indonesian House of Representatives, Ahmad Sahroni, on his official Instagram account @ahmadsahroni88.
In the video of the incident, a man in a cream shirt is seen approaching Ronald to talk, but Ronald avoids the man.
Suddenly, another man in a black shirt punches Bro Ron in the face.
In addition, the man in the cream shirt is also seen approaching Ronald to attack him.
The incident occurred in the Menteng area, Central Jakarta, on Monday (4/5/2026).
At that time, Bro Ron was accompanying employees of PT SKS for an audience at the law firm Michael, Putra & Partners (MPP).
When the PT SKS employees were protesting in front of the MPP office, three unidentified individuals arrived around 6:00 PM WIB, claiming to be security for the office and building.
One of them was the perpetrator who punched Bro Ron.
