Briton and Filipino face murder charge
KUALA LUMPUR (AFP): A Briton and a Filipino have been jointly
charged in a court in Labuan island, off Malaysia's eastern state
of Sabah, with the murder of a man and a woman, the British High
Commission confirmed yesterday.
A British High Commission official said he could only confirm
that the 48-year old Briton, Ian Daniel Miller, had been charged.
The official said the British consul in Kota Kinabalu would
assist Miller.
Miller and Rikason Alip Piblani, 34, were charged in Labuan on
Saturday with the killing of Filipino Erwin Harina, 26, and a
woman of unknown nationality, Jocelyn Dumpor, at a house in
Labuan between May 19 and June 14.
Piblani was arrested on July 21 while Miller was caught on
September 18. No plea was recorded and magistrate Caroline Bee
Majanil ordered Miller and Piblani to be further remanded. They
face the death sentence if convicted for murder.
