The Mobile Brigade (Brimob) of the Metro Jaya Regional Police has foiled street brawling and illegal racing activities across the Greater Jakarta region. Eight perpetrators and a number of evidence items have been secured by police.

The Brimob of Metro Jaya Regional Police conducted patrol operations to anticipate street brawls and illegal racing at several high-risk locations in Bekasi Regency in the early hours of Sunday, 15 March 2026. Patrols were conducted from evening through dawn as efforts to maintain public security and order during Ramadan.

During patrols on Jalan Raya Pasir Gombong at approximately 01:00 WIB, officers discovered a group of young people suspected of planning illegal racing. One motorcycle was secured and handed over to Cikarang Police Station for further handling.

“Patrols continued to the areas of Jalan Raya Gatot Subroto, Lemah Abang, and Tegal Gede, Cikarang. At that location, officers found approximately 20 young people gathered who were suspected of planning a street brawl,” said Kombes Henik Maryanto, Commander of Brimob Metro Jaya Regional Police.

Two individuals were successfully arrested. Both perpetrators were found carrying sharp weapons including a machete and golf clubs.

“Examination findings revealed two young men carrying sharp weapons in the form of a machete and golf clubs. Both were then secured and brought to Cikarang Police Station for further processing,” he stated.

Meanwhile, personnel from Battalion B Pelopor Brimob Metro Jaya Regional Police, together with officials from the North Jakarta Metro Police Station, conducted large-scale patrols to anticipate street brawls, illegal racing, and potential security disturbances at several high-risk locations from Saturday, 14 March evening through Sunday, 15 March early morning.

“Sweeps were conducted in several areas that frequently become gathering places for youth groups and hotspots for street crimes,” he said.

These patrols were also conducted to maintain public security and order during Ramadan. While sweeping the Mangga Dua arterial area in North Jakarta, officers discovered a group of young people with suspicious behaviour.

“Examination conducted at the location found synthetic tobacco weighing approximately 25 grammes, three motorcycles, and several mobile phones,” he explained.

Six young people were then secured and brought to the North Jakarta Metro Police Station for further examination. Henik stated that preventive patrols continue to be conducted to prevent potential security disturbances in the Metro Jaya Regional Police jurisdiction, particularly during night to early morning hours.

“The presence of personnel in the field is a preventive measure to ensure community activities proceed safely and orderly. The public is also urged to immediately report through the Polri Call Centre at number 110 if they discover any potential security disturbances in their surrounding area,” he concluded.
