Bridge meet due here next month

JAKARTA (JP): A foursome bridge open tournament will be held here from May 4 to May 5 to commemorate the 179th anniversary of the birth of Thomas Matulessy, nicknamed Captain Pattimura, a hero from Maluku islands.

Chairman of the Jakarta Bridge Association Bob Pangerapan announced yesterday the tournament should serve as a warm-up for the country's top bridge players before they go to Macao for the Far East bridge tournament, slated for May 17 to May 25.

About 70 teams are expected to take part in the tournament, according to tournament officer Wim Salawane. The tournament will start at 10 a.m. in Hotel Indonesia's Madura Room. (arf)
