PT Bank Rakyat Indonesia (Persero) Tbk (BBRI) is focusing on improving its funding structure. Last year, this strategy successfully increased low-cost deposits, or current account savings account (CASA), and reduced cost of funds (CoF).

BRI Chief Executive Director Hery Gunardi stated that banking fundamentally begins with fund mobilisation. “Banking is a funding game. What we want to build at BRI is how we establish a strong funding franchise. Essentially, we want to improve our funding structure,” said Hery during a press conference on financial performance disclosures, Thursday (26 February 2026).

Overall, BRI’s third-party funds (DPK) grew 7.4% year-on-year to approximately IDR1.466 trillion on a consolidated basis last year. Current accounts recorded growth of 19.7% year-on-year whilst savings increased 7.9% year-on-year, reflecting strengthening of retail and non-wholesale-based funding structure.

Alongside rapid growth in current accounts and savings, BRI’s CASA ratio in 2025 rose to 70.6% from the previous 67.3%. “This trend is very positive; previously BRI’s savings were far below competitors. Now with my main competitors the gap is narrowing, so we want to lead, of course that requires effort,” said Hery.

Hery continued that the thicker portion of low-cost funds provided a positive impact on CoF. By the end of 2025, it declined to 2.9% from 3.2% in 2024.

At the same occasion, BRI’s Director of Networking and Retail Funding, Aquarius Rudianto, stated that growth in low-cost funds was continuously supported by digital channel optimisation strategy, which demonstrated positive performance.

He reported that the application for retail customers, BRImo, recorded significant growth. The number of active users increased 18.9% year-on-year, reaching 45.9 million in December 2025. Transaction value reached IDR7.076 trillion or grew 26.4% year-on-year.

Meanwhile, the Qlola application, which targets mid-market and commercial as well as corporate customers, also grew strongly. The number of active users reached 113,000 or increased 48.1% year-on-year, with sales volume increasing 36.2% year-on-year to IDR13.456 trillion.

Aquarius continued that in terms of merchant transactions through BRI, business also increased sharply. Merchant sales volume rose 48.1% year-on-year to IDR223.2 trillion.

Similarly, BRI QRIS showed an increasing trend, with sales volume rising 100% year-on-year to IDR85.6 trillion. Transaction volume grew 127.5% year-on-year to more than 782.8 billion transactions.

“This achievement confirms that BRI’s digital transformation not only strengthens the low-cost funding base but also expands an inclusive digital payment ecosystem for all segments of society,” said Aquarius.
