JAKARTA – PT Bank Rakyat Indonesia (Persero) Tbk is supporting the government’s roof-tiling programme through financing via the Housing Loan Programme or People’s Business Credit (Kredit Usaha Rakyat, KUR) for Housing.

BRI Chief Executive Hery Gunardi stated that the bank will serve as a financial facilitator between tile craftspeople and property developers. “So once there is a contract between the tile maker and the buyer or user, BRI will be in the middle,” said Hery during a press conference at the BRILiaN Building, Club Jakarta, on Friday, 27 February 2026.

Jatiwangi is known as a centre for the clay tile industry. Hery noted that the sector has experienced decline because the products lack competitiveness in terms of quality and quantity. BRI will facilitate financing for small and medium-scale producers to increase production capacity in support of the roof-tiling programme. “We support this, as BRI is a bank whose DNA is to support ordinary people, true to our name Bank Rakyat Indonesia. So we will provide the financing,” he said.

Initially, BRI estimates financing in Jatiwangi will range from Rp 1 billion to Rp 2 billion. There are approximately 200 UMKM tile producers in the region. “Perhaps not very large. Whatever amount, we can finance it,” Gunardi noted.

In 2026, BRI received an allocation of Rp 6.10 trillion for the Housing KUR. As of 26 February 2026, disbursement realisation reached Rp 3.42 trillion to 25,909 borrowers across Indonesia.

The National Roof-Tiling Programme forms part of President Prabowo Subianto’s directive to deliver more adequate, cooler, and higher-quality public housing. The programme is also integrated with subsidised housing needs and the Self-Help Housing Stimulus Assistance (Bantuan Stimulan Perumahan Swadaya, BSPS) in West Java, which requires large quantities of tiles.
