Jakarta – PT Bank Rakyat Indonesia (Persero) Tbk has reaffirmed its commitment to supporting the success of the “Gentengisasi” (roof tile) programme through financing via the People’s Business Credit (KUR) Housing scheme or Credit Programme for Housing (KPP). This support aligns with the directive from President Prabowo Subianto for the public to use cooler and more suitable roofing materials, such as ceramic tiles, rather than corrugated metal or asbestos, as part of efforts to improve the quality and comfort of residential housing.

BRI Chief Executive Director Hery Gunardi, accompanied by BRI Consumer Banking Director Aris Hartanto, confirmed this commitment when receiving a visit from Housing and Settlement Area Minister Maruarar Sirait, BP Tapera Commissioner Heru Pudyo Nugroho, Majalengka Regent Eman Suherman, and West Java Provincial Secretary Herman Suryatman at BRILiaN Club, Jakarta, on Friday 27 February.

On this occasion, Hery stressed that BRI assumes a strategic role in facilitating financing between tile manufacturers and property developers. In its scheme, BRI intervenes once a cooperation contract has been established between the tile manufacturer and developer, enabling financing to be expedited.

“BRI’s role is positioned in the middle. Once there is a contract between the tile manufacturer and developer or end-user, BRI is ready to facilitate the financing. We already have the Housing KUR scheme, and building materials like this form part of the Housing KUR. As a bank whose DNA is oriented towards supporting small businesses and the public, as befits the name Bank Rakyat Indonesia, we are prepared to provide financing to support these requirements,” said Hery in a statement issued on Monday, 2 March 2026.

Hery also stressed that as part of BRI’s commitment to the Housing KUR, this financing not only contributes to improving the quality of public housing but also generates multiplier effects, ranging from production activities in building material SMEs, strengthening the supply chain in the housing industry, to creating employment opportunities across various regions. This support is expected to enhance the competitiveness of local SMEs whilst strengthening the domestic industry, particularly the roof tile sector.

Housing and Settlement Area Minister Maruarar Sirait expressed appreciation for BRI’s consistency in supporting government programmes, including the Housing KUR.
