PT Bank Rakyat Indonesia (Persero) Tbk or BRI continues to record an increase in value added for shareholders, amid a global economic condition still coloured by geopolitical risks. This performance aligns with the implementation of the BRIvolution Reignite transformation that has been running for the past year. In the BRI Financial Performance Press Conference for the First Quarter of 2026 at BRI Headquarters on Thursday (30/4/2026), BRI President Director Hery Gunardi stated that a combination of asset quality improvements and cost efficiency is driving the company’s profitability increase. Return on Assets (ROA) was recorded to increase to 2.8%, while Return on Equity (ROE) rose from 17.1% in the First Quarter of 2025 to 18.4% in the First Quarter of 2026. “This growth reflects BRI’s ability to maintain a balance between credit expansion and increasingly efficient fund cost management. On one side, strong credit growth provides a boost to interest income. On the other side, improvements in the funding structure, particularly the increase in CASA, also help suppress the cost of funds. Overall, BRI is not only growing but also able to maintain the quality of growth,” explained Hery. As recorded up to the First Quarter of 2026, BRI’s total assets reached Rp2,250 trillion or grew 7.2% year-on-year (YoY). On the intermediation side, credit and financing disbursements also showed solid growth, increasing 13.7% YoY to Rp1,562 trillion. Supported by strong business fundamentals amid industry dynamics, selective credit growth, fund cost efficiency, and maintained asset quality, BRI successfully recorded a net profit of Rp15.5 trillion or grew 13.7% YoY. Hery stated that this performance is supported by strong fundamentals and consistency in strategy to drive healthy growth while maintaining asset quality. BRI is optimistic that this momentum will continue, in line with the company’s focus on strengthening digitalisation, implementing disciplined risk management, and creating sustainable value for all stakeholders. Moving forward, BRI will continue to strengthen its role as a bank that supports the people’s economy by making UMKM the centre of growth. BRI will strengthen the UMKM ecosystem end-to-end, from access to financing, business mentoring, to integration with markets and digital ecosystems, thereby creating growth that is not only inclusive but also sustainable. “We believe that growth must go hand in hand with real impact. Therefore, every step of the BRIvolution Reignite transformation that we are carrying out is directed towards creating added value, not only for the company and shareholders, but also for the wider community,” said Hery.
