Made Sandi has experienced the benefits of credit from BRI to develop his organic farming. The farmer from Bangli Village, Tabanan, Bali, once struggled with capital to expand his organic paprika cultivation.

“Initially, we were indeed constrained by costs, especially for seeds which are quite expensive,” said Sandi in a written statement on Wednesday (22/4/2026).

Sandi established greenhouse-based paprika cultivation on a plot of approximately 2.5 are. Now, he has 860 pots of paprika that can be harvested alternately. The organic farming venture was started four years ago.

Sandi typically harvests 20 to 40 kilograms of paprika per harvest. He has even achieved 100 kilograms in a single harvest. The planting period for paprika until fruiting is around eight months for one cycle.

Sandi also applies smart farming technology, such as nutrient regulation and automatic irrigation systems, to maintain paprika quality. As a result, the produced paprika is premium quality. Red paprika is sold for around Rp150,000 per kilogram, green (Rp125,000), and yellow (Rp200,000).

Several hotels have become buyers of Sandi’s paprika. These accommodations have customers who wish to consume organic food.

Regional CEO of BRI Region 17 Denpasar, Hery Noercahya, actively encourages agricultural business actors to level up through affordable capital support. “BRI is committed to supporting the development of organic farming through easy and inclusive access to financing because this sector not only has great economic potential but also contributes to environmental sustainability,” he stated.

Through the Kredit Usaha Rakyat (KUR) programme, Hery said BRI provides ease of access to capital for farmers, while also conducting mentoring and improving financial literacy. “Not only financing, we also encourage capacity building for farmers so they can develop businesses sustainably and competitively,” he added.
