Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia — President Director of PT Bank Rakyat Indonesia (Persero) Tbk, Hery Gunardi, revealed that the company he leads achieved solid performance amid challenging economic dynamics throughout the first quarter of 2026. He emphasised that consistent transformation and a prudent business approach have been key to maintaining healthy growth. “Amid challenging dynamics, BRI has managed to sustain healthy growth through serious and cautious transformation,” Hery stated during the Q1-2026 performance presentation on Thursday (30/4/2026). On a consolidated basis, BRI’s total assets reached Rp2,250 trillion at the end of March 2026, growing 7.2% year-on-year (yoy). This was supported by solid acceleration in credit disbursements. As of Q1-2026, BRI’s total credit amounted to Rp1,562 trillion, growing 13.7% yoy. The UMKM segment remains the backbone of the business, with total disbursements reaching Rp1,211 trillion, reaffirming BRI’s focus on supporting the real sector and people’s economy. In line with the maintained expansion, asset quality also showed improvement. The loan at risk (LAR) ratio decreased from 11.1% to 9.7%, reflecting increasingly controlled portfolio risk. Additionally, the cost of credit (CoC) also improved from 3.5% to 3.2%, driven by enhanced asset quality and reduced provisioning expenses.
